Before we go into the details of this upcoming NCIS project, let me tell you that this title is only tentative and is likely to be changed. As of now, it’s known as ‘NCIS: Legend’ but other titles under consideration are NCIS: OSP (Office of Special Projects) or NCIS: Undercover etc.  Let’s see which one of these gets the final nod of approval. It was February 2009 when filming of the upcoming spin-off was kicked off. And, things are going on speedily.

NCIS’ sixth season episode, entitled ‘Legend (Part 1), gave a prologue to the upcoming spin-off. In this episode, the team members of the spin-off were introduced. Most notable among them are, Special Agent G. Callen, played by Chris O’Donnell, and Special Agent Sam Hanna, played by LL Cool J. The next episode ‘Legend (Part 2)’, which was aired on May 5, 2009, also threw some light on the story and theme of the spin off.

The spin-off would be completely different from its predecessor, as per the statement of Shane Brennan, the executive producer of the show. The new series would be centering on undercover and surveillance work. And, you please don’t think that NCIS spin off is gonna be like its ancestor, as it has been denied by Brennan saying, “There are no forensics or autopsies in it.  There is no [lab tech] Abby character in it.  It’s not going to trample on our traditional ‘NCIS’ show”. So, things are gonna be pretty exciting and quite unlike anything seen on NCIS before.

Well, we have to wait before we catch the episodes of the spin-off of NCIS. As of now, set your sights on the upcoming episode of NCIS. Aliyah is scheduled to be aired on May 19, 2009.
